Bushpig

The band formed up in '89, as a collaboration between the Thrown Ups and the King Snake Roost guys. With this early line-up the band released a 7" on Amphetamine Reptile. They reformed in 1990 with an enlarged 9-pieces formation which also featured Martin Bland and Guy Maddison (from the australian band Bloodloss that Mark Arm would join later that year, after having worked with Bland in the Monkeywrench); the new Bushpig recorded an entire LP on the aussie PGK label. Both releases are now very rare to find since they're both long out of print.

Guy, of course, would go on to become Mudhoney's bassist over ten years later, but that's another story...

Thanks to Cosmicchoccolate, Gman, Petter and Pete Hill for all the infos. Pete, what's your email again?

The front cover photo is known to be one of the "strangest" art in the history of rock'n'roll: it shows a naked guy wearing a skinned pig (or warthog)'s head and holding the guts of the head over his groin (yuck!).

Oh, and that guy on the cover is Peter Hill...

Two sentences scratched in the run-out grooves:
A: "the pigs' bum is where the bacon's from"
B: "get some pork in your fork"
