MUDHONEY
Since We've Become Translucent
Unabashed, heavy and incessantly bold, this is the rock album that you've
been waiting for. A longtime member of the indie grunge/rock movement,
Mudhoney have returned to Sub Pop and are set to unleash its eighth
fulllength release, titled Since We've Become Translucent, on Aug. 20.
Filled to the brim with dark, evoking mood music, fans will be interested
to learn that this is the first Mudhoney album to feature a horn section.
This unexpected, yet welcome addition gives an interesting bluesy feel to
the band's established proto-rock sound. Mudhoney has a 1970s rock
thing going on with the wailing horns, organ and mystical guitar work on
"Baby Can You Dig the Light." Since We've Become Translucent is an
excellent example of a band growing into its own sound, by exploring
what it can pull from outside of it. "Take It Like A Man" has a nice
groove that'll send you straight for your air guitar. Send those Modern
Rock Blues of yours a-packing and give in.
