Sean Lennon Records With Mike Watt,
& Members Of Sonic Youth, Stooges, & Mudhoney
Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley, the Stooges' Ron Asheton,
and Mike Watt -- otherwise known as the Wylde Ratttz -- are holed up in a
New York City studio recording tracks for an as- yet- untitled album to be
released on London Records. And guess who's singing with them? John Lennon's
son Sean Lennon -- of all people -- and Mudhoney's Mark Arm. Lennon and Arm
will handle lead vocal duties for half of the album each.
As previously reported in allstar, Moore,
Shelley, Asheton, Watt, and Arm originally formed earlier this year to work
on the soundtrack to the Michael Stipe Single Cell Pictures' film, Velvet
Goldmine. Two tracks featuring Arm are scheduled to be released on the
soundtrack, which will be released on London Records.
The Wylde Ratttz have been in the studio since Monday (July 7) working on
their own album with producer and ex-Gumball member/ producer extraordinaire
Don Fleming, who produced the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack as well.
Recording for the project is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, July 17.
A release date for the album has not yet been set.
